This is a 1348-3 high tensile, fixed-knot fence mesh. It's a great choice for a number of applications. It's a very robust fence.It's got smaller holes at the bottom that graduate to larger holes at the top, more dense at the bottom, where smaller predators or varmintsmight try to come through the fence.In this application, we have also a hot-wire that runs along the bottom so that if an animal or predator did try to dig under, they get a nice shock and it teaches them not to come back.So the fence is great for sheep, goats. It's good around a yard where you might have domestic dogs in a large yard. It's also good to keep wild dogs out. It's also used as a horse fence. The openings are small enough that horses can't get their hooves through it, If you have pawing horses.On this fence we've also got an extra barbed wire at the top. It's about five inches above the top of the 48. So it gives a little bit more deterrence to climbing or jumping.On this installation, we also have some rock at the bottom. That's because we have some drainage that comes through that ends up at the pond you see behind me. Stay Tuff 1348-3 Fixed-Knot High Tensile Fence

Discover the best material for high-game fences.For a high-game fence like the one here, which is eight feet tall to the top wire, the way to go for material selection is a fixed knot fence.That's what this is; these unions between the vertical stay wire and the horizontal wires are put together with a fixed knot. It doesn't allow the vertical wire to slide sideways.What does this do for us? It forms a web that becomes very strong. Each of these wires, and by the way, on this eight-foot tall fence, there are twenty horizontal wires. Each of these wires has a breaking strength of just under 1300 pounds. So extremely strong.As you'll see, in high-tensile mesh wire fences, the wire is high tensile and doesn't elongate very much, maybe one or 2% compared to a low tensile fence that might elongate five to 10% over time.With the addition of these V-crimps inside, the horizontal line wires give it a stretch or spring effect. And so, when the wire is installed properly, it's tied at one end and stretched to the other end. And these V-Crimps form a spring action that keeps it tight. During hot and cold weather, steel contracts and expands the spring action of these V-Crimps, keeping the high tensile wire very tight over time. Over many years, it does the same thing; it keeps it tight. So, the distinct advantages here are the fixed knot and robust connection.As well as the V-Crimp, the wires themselves are solid as it's high tensile. And this wire is coated with a class three galvanization older wire. Field fences, things that were used and are still used today, have class one galvanization. For many of them the galvanization on this wire is three times as much, and last three times as long, depending on the climate that you're installing this in. Best High Game Fence Material - Fixed Knot Fencing

The high-game fence comes in a few different fixed-knot patterns. 2096-3-200, 2096-6-330, and 2096-12-330. The standard fixed-knot fence pattern is with the vertical stay wires on six-inch centers. So we've got six inches here in between.Other options are that these are on 12-inch centers, but it leaves some pretty big gaps.The other option is that these are on three-inch centers and so it's much tighter.The typical perimeter fence is six inches on center here.And then at the bottom, you can see that the horizontal wires are tighter at the top. They're not as dense. So this discourages animals from crossing at the bottom.The spacing here is three inches. Then it goes to four inches. Goes to five inches here. Six at the top. Seven inches. So this makes there some economy-saving horizontal wires at the top, still doing its job to keep larger animals from jumping over right above the top wire, which is right at eight feet.We install one strand of barbed wire to the barbed wire, which discourages jumping. Sometimes if a limb falls on it, it just hits the barbed wire and bounces off.The barbed wire itself is very strong. It's high tensile as well.As you can see here, the fence is galvanized.
